Samantha Anderson joined Sotheby’s in 2016 as an Assistant Vice President, Business Development, Fiduciary Client Group. Samantha advises fiduciaries and individuals on the valuation and sale of property. Engaging every facet of Sotheby’s global art business, she works closely with clients and their advisors to provide appraisals and to develop sale strategies, whether for a single item or for an entire collection. During her time at Sotheby’s, Samantha has been involved in the sale of many important collections and estates including the Jerome and Ellen Stern Collection and the Collection of Santiago Barberi Gonzalez.
Samantha is a graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she concentrated on Intellectual Property and Art Law. Throughout law school she was a legal intern in Christie’s Legal and Restitution departments. She was also a legal intern for Herrick Feinstein, LLP where she worked with their Art Law Group. Prior to attending law school, she received her Bachelor’s degree as well as a double MA in History of Art and Social Anthropology from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. Throughout her MA, she worked with a law firm specializing in Customs and Cultural Property Law. Immediately prior to joining Sotheby’s, Samantha worked at a national multifamily office specializing in ultra-high net worth clients. Her role there focused on advising clients on Trusts & Estates planning, as well as tax and charitable giving.
She was a volunteer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for over four years and is certified in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
