At Balyasny, Peter Goodwin is building Longaeva Partners, his own internal long/short equities unit, reports Business Insider. The unit, which will begin trading in 2025, will exclusively invest Balyasny assets. Over time, Longeva may grow to have a dozen teams and other sectors under its umbrella. Goodwin is the first to launch such an internal fund at Balyasny. Longaeva is a type of tree known for being the longest-living.

Most recently, Goodwin had been a top performing portfolio manager at Point72. He had initially joined Point72’s LaunchPoint program in 2016. Business Insider reported that he was offered between $50 million and $80 million in compensation to join Balyasny. Balyasny is now managing $21 billion in assets.

 Millennium Management has hired Hong Kong-based Arnaud Leteissier as a senior portfolio manager.  He had previously been a managing director and head of APAC equity trading at Citigroup.

Abhinav Maheshwari, who had previously been a partner at Ovata Capital Management, has also joined Millennium as a senior portfolio manager in Hong Kong.

Yashuhiro Hasegawa has also joined Millennium as a fixed income portfolio manager. Sushrut Kulkarni has joined an existing team in Singapore as a fixed income portfolio manager.

Meanwhile, Brevan Howard has hired Tomoki Kondo, a Singapore-based portfolio manager. He had previously been at SMBC Nikko Securities for almost nine years. Most recently, he had been deputy head of derivative trading.

Meanwhile, Citadel is expanding its fixed income and macro business in London. Jacob Westin, who had previously been at Point72, joined in August. Christine Boykiw is joining as an associate portfolio manager in November. She had previously been at Barclays.

Bernard Singer and Ravi Vinda, who are starting in mid-2025, had previously been at Brevan Howard. Singer is joining as a portfolio manager while Vinda is as an associate portfolio manager.

Shelly Heier, the president of Verus, is leaving on September 30. She has been with the firm for 24 years and president for 11 of those years. She will be joining another unidentified investment firm in a global leadership position. Jeff MacLean, Verus CEO, and Kraig McCoy, CFO/COO, will be assuming her responsibilities. McCoy will take on the title of president and CFO.
