The white paper discusses increased signs that hedge funds are rebounding e.g. strong performance, alpha generation, growing importance of short selling, net flows increasing, some managers closing to new investment, and renewed interest from institutions. While large multi-managers continue to dominate, the window is also opening for smaller, new and niche managers.
The paper also examines the fee issue including the multi-manager pass-through model as well as wide performance dispersion.
