Endowments have posted their best returns since 1986 due to strength in global equities, private equity and venture capital. Of those that have released results as of October 25, twelve surpassed the S&P 500’s 40.8% return over the same time frame.
The survey includes 33 individual endowment write-ups and a summary table based on publicly disclosed information which typically includes the return for FY2021 and FY2020; three, five and ten-year annualized returns; endowment asset size; allocation and returns by asset class; and the chief investment officer or equivalent. Hedge fund allocations/returns are highlighted if they have been disclosed.
